Purpose and design

Three-phase line chokes are used in drive systems powered and regulated by inverters. The line chokes are installed on the inverter supply. The impedance of the choke in combination with the line impedance at the inverter connection point limits the amplitude of the harmonic current drawn from the line. When used in conjunction with a thyristor converter, line chokes limit the propagation of commutation disturbances. Line chokes can be made in IP23 rated enclosures. In case of a need for installation of chokes in enclosures with a higher protection class should be consulted with the manufacturer.
